Note from the news desk
2010 has been a wonderful but very intense year. Next year promises to be even more exciting as construction of the new school is scheduled to begin. We established a partnership with Mylife Myafrica and have strengthened our existing bond with Golang. Bridges are being built between different stakeholders and ties with the local churches and the community have being strengthened.
Kingsway Christian School
The annual Christmas Party took place on the 1st of December at the Nazarene Centre in Muldersdrift. Computer Software Consultants sponsored the event. The children swam and ate to their heart’s content. Thank you CSC, we are very grateful to you for your generosity and continued support. We had fun!
Seven of our Grade 7 children got bursaries to private schools. Bursaries as follows: Phuti Maela and Thapelo Kolotsi to Dainfern College; Gundo Nemaname to Trinity House; Mduduzi Motaung and Lindokuhle Dube to King's School West Rand; Puseletso Sebaeng to Aurora College; Phenyo Maumula to St Stithians through the SSP Programme (Student Support Programme).
Thandanani House of Refuge
Bongani attended a leadership program during the July School holidays, travelled to the UK with the Trinity House Choir in September and has being appointed as a prefect at Trinity House for 2011. Well done Bongani! You make us proud.
Jane became a prefect at Sparrow Combined School. Prince got a job as a Barista, learning the art of making superb coffee at Pick and Pay Sandton.
Nandi from “Santa’s Shoe Box for Christmas” organised a box filled with goodies for each of the children. Furthermore, together with her book club friends, she organised the donation of various other items, making the children’s lives more comfortable and pleasant. Thank you all for your kind heartedness.
CSC sponsored the Christmas function for Thandanani as well. The kids enjoyed playing Ten Pin Bowling and had a fun filled meal at Spur. Thank you CSC for believing in us and giving us so much of your time and financial support.
Project Development
Construction of the boundary fence (at Zandspruit) which consists of brick wall on two sides of the property and Beta view fence on the remaining two sides has been completed.
Building will start within the next few months and funding has now become a matter of priority. We aim to relocate to Zandspruit in 2012 (several miracles are needed…)
Funding
We are appealing for regular monthly donations for both the School and House to stabilize our operational costs as this will enable us to put all our efforts into the development project.
Sponsoring a child at Thandanani for R500 or R1000 per month or at Kingsway School for R350 per month for the year 2011 only will help us tremendously. You can adopt a penguin for R500 per month, educating a child will teach them to save the planet and the penguins.
Alternatively…The festive season is upon us, would you consider donating the amount of one Christmas gift to Kingsway School or Thandanani House of Refuge?
