Our Management
Kingsway has a governing constitution which is contained in the memorandum and articles of association of a Section 21 Company known as “Kingsway Centre of Concern”. Apart from the board of directors of this company it has two management committees made of up suitably qualified and passionate volunteers ; one for each division of Kingsway – the school and the house of refuge.
The school has a staff of 16 full-time teachers, including a remedial teacher, a social worker and many voluntary helpers. The school’s premises are currently located on the grounds of the Honeyridge Baptist Church and consist primarily of prefabricated buildings. Kingsway is the owner of 6 hectares of land next to Zandspruit in the Honeydew area. Plans are well advanced to move the school in stages to this site which is the current location of the house of refuge. Although the school currently uses the grounds and facilities of Honeyridge Baptist Church, we are not affiliated to any one denomination. The staff are drawn from a range of denominations.
The financial management of Kingsway Centre of Concern is under the direct control of the board of directors and the two management committees. A record of the finances of both divisions of Kingsway are tabled and approved by the management committee monthly. Kingsway is a recognized Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) exempt from income tax under the Income Tax Act (no 58 of 1962) and is further registered under Section 18A making donations to Kingsway Centre of Concern tax deductible.
